Car Electronic Services specializes in customer 'own unit' repair and re-engineering of automotive ECUs. This means you get your own ECU back. Although we need your ECU for only 2 working days, we believe there are now too many risks associated with ECU exchange programmes, for example;

1. When exchanging, you have NO IDEA what you are getting back. It could be an 'old dog' that has been 'repaired' so many times that it will never, ever, be reliable. Worse still, the ECU you get back could have unusual intermittent faults that no one has been able to detect or repair - installing this ECU in your car is the same as infecting it with a virus! ('old dog' is our industry jargon for an ECU that should be junked)


2. Many ECUs are security coded to vehicle. One example is the Range Rover BeCM (Body electronic Control Module). If this fails, not only is it expensive to replace, new units also require programming. Dealer re-programming costs and inconvenience are avoided if your own ECU is re-fitted. It is also becoming more common that other types of exchange ECU are not working because of vehicle coding problems (ECU is coded to work only with your vehicle) - this possibility is avoided if your own ECU is re-fitted.
